The Urban Development Approach

As a part of this project, the team performed spatial analyses on the study area to generate site suitability layers.

A major aspect of the analyses was to implement various approaches with varying stances towards the urban development into the Contested Countryside.

This map visualizes the study area as a result of such an analysis, done by following the Urban Development Approach.

This approach holds no regard towards the preservation of natural heritage, placing most priority in developing where possible.

The areas symbolized here classified from "Most Suitable" to "Moderately Suitable" represent the areas which are at the highest risk within the Contested Countryside.

What remains of the Contested Countryside under this approach appears to be no more than the scraps that will be leftover; With no real viable option to maintain these areas as key agricultural lands.
