As a part of this project, the team performed spatial analyses on the study area to generate site suitability layers.
A major aspect of the analyses was to implement various approaches with varying stances towards the urban development into the Contested Countryside.
This map visualizes the study area as a result of such an analysis, done by following the Balanced Development Approach.
This approach tries to strike a middle-ground between the two extreme stances of urban development and conservation, placing enough importance on the natural heritage while also allowing space for urban growth.
The areas symbolized here classified from "Most Suitable" to "Moderately Suitable" represent the areas which are at the highest risk within the Contested Countryside, where Urban Sprawl has already begun, and can help visualize what areas will be taken next.
